Part-Time Gardener – Residential Family Farm – $22.00 to $25.00 per hour based on experience

We are seeking a reliable, hands-on gardener to support the upkeep and development of a residential family farm. This is a part-time position (16–24 hours per week) for someone who enjoys working outdoors and takes pride in maintaining beautiful, functional landscapes.

Minimum 2 years’ experience working in ornamental horticulture, garden maintenance, landscape construction, and/or organic farms.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Identify and manage weeds using appropriate methods
  • Install, maintain, and repair irrigation systems
  • Prune small shrubs and maintain plant health
  • Assist with planting, soil preparation, and general garden care
  • Build simple garden structures such as trellises
  • Install posts and assist with light construction projects
  • Weed whacking
  • Run occasional local errands for supplies and materials

Qualifications:
  • Weed identification knowledge including Pop Weed, Bermuda grass, Scarlet Pimpernel, Dock, and Bindweed
  • Drip irrigation experience including repair and troubleshooting
  • Pruning experience with small shrubs, perennials, and vines
  • Basic construction skills (trellises, post setting, etc.)
  • Ability to perform physical outdoor work in varying weather conditions
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently
  • Reliable transportation and valid driver’s license required
  • Self-motivated, honest, independent worker with excellent problem-solving abilities, while able to take direction and stay on task

Bonus points for:
  • Mastery of appropriate planting, maintenance, composting, soil building, and watering methods throughout the seasons, in both farm and ornamental garden
    Knowledge of ornamental plants, CA natives, and food crops
  • Experience with gopher trapping and/or organic pest control methods
  • Experience with landscape installation and repairs – hardscape, walls, stonework, basic construction, fences, and lighting
  • Being comfortable with receiving feedback, collaborating, and taking direction from women.
  • Taking initiative to learn and improve professional skills
  • Being emotionally mature, and a clear communicator

Schedule & Compensation:
  • 16–24 hours per week (flexible scheduling)
  • Competitive hourly rate based on experience: $22.00 to $25.00+ based on skillset, experience, and match to the position
