Experienced
Sawmill & Lumber Yard Operator
Green Waste Recycle Yard – Richmond, CA
Full-Time | Year-Round | Primarily outdoors
Typical Hours: 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM | Occasional Overtime
Hourly rate: $26–$30/hour depending on experience and fit
About the position
The Green Waste Recycle Yard is hiring a full-time Sawmill & Lumber Yard Operator to join our production team in Richmond.
While we are willing to train the right person, this is not an entry-level yard labor position. It is a production role, focused on milling accuracy, material handling, and craftsmanship. This is hands-on, physically demanding work in an active sawmill and lumber yard environment. If you have sawmill experience, that’s a plus. If you come from carpentry, construction, landscaping, or equipment-heavy roles and are mechanically inclined, this could be your future.
Are you interested in wood? This role provides exposure to large-dimension timbers and a range of hardwood species not typically found in traditional lumber yards. During slower production periods, operators may work on value-added wood products made from our salvaged material. These pieces are produced as inventory for sale through our yard. This is an opportunity to develop real woodworking and carving skills within a production environment while contributing to the company’s finished product line.
About the company
At the GWRY, we salvage urban logs and mill them into dimensional lumber, landscape timbers, slabs, and other wood products made from 100% recycled, locally sourced material. See: greenwasterecycleyard dot com. GWRY is a division of The Professional Tree Care Service, professionaltreecare dot com.

equipment
• Comfortable using forklifts, chainsaws, and shop tools safely
• Pride in clean, accurate cuts and efficient material handling
• Ability to lift 50 lbs. regularly and up to 100 lbs. occasionally
• Consistent attendance and commitment to safety and a valid and clean CA driver’s license
• Live within 45 minutes of Richmond, CA or plan to relocate
• Legal authorization to work in the U.S.
